Russia disrupts trilateral gas talks again

The Russian side again failed to agree on the date of a trilateral meeting of the EU-Ukraine-Russia on gas.
Energy and Coal Industry Minister Yuriy Prodan told reporters on Wednesday, a Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“The European Commission has proposed a date – September 27. However, the Russian side, as far as I know, did not agree to this date,” he said.
Recall, the tripartite talks between Russia, Ukraine and the European Commission on the cost of Russian gas for Ukraine, scheduled for September 20 in Berlin, Germany, will not happen because of inability of Energy Minister Alexander Novak to participate in them. Negotiations are postponed for the fourth time.
Ukraine does not receive Russian gas since June 16, 2014. All this time, negotiations continue: Russia calls on Kyiv to pay off debts and pay for natural gas in advance, Ukraine does not agree with the price, proposed by Moscow, at USD 385 per thousand cubic meters (including a discount at USD 100).
However, Ukraine’s attempts to organize a reverse supply from European countries run into active opposition of Russia, which under a false pretext reduced gas supply to those European countries that supply gas to Ukraine in reverse.
