Russia becomes largest buyer of Ukrainian wine in 2017

Russia became the largest buyer of Ukrainian wine in the first four months of 2017, according to the Ukrainian agrarian news portal Agravery.

Overall exports of Ukrainian wine in January-April 2017 were estimated at US$12 million, wine shipments to Russia alone totaled $6.3 million, or 52.8% of total exports, Agravery reported with reference to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine.

Wine imports were twice exports: Ukraine bought 12 million liters of wine worth $23.4 million in the four months.

Shipments of Italian wine were estimated at $6 million, or 25.7% of total imports. Georgia ranked second, as wine imports from that country totaled $3.4 million (14.6%), France was third with $3.3 million (14%).
