Russia a strategic problem for EU – Tusk

The EU should have a single strategy towards Russia that now poses a strategic problem for the EU.
The president of the European Council, Donald Tusk, said this after the EU summit in Brussels on Thursday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.
“We need to be realistic. We have to treat this as a long-term game. We must go beyond being reactive and defensive,” Tusk said, while commenting on the need for the development of a new common EU strategy towards Russia.
“In fact Russia is today our strategic problem, not Ukraine… The biggest challenge today is the Russian approach, not only to Ukraine but also to the EU,” Tusk stated.
He also said that there was a problem with the economic situation and that Ukraine was a victim of a certain type of invasion.
He stressed that the EU should be realistic about this situation.
When the EU talks about Ukraine’s future, it also talks about its own future, Tusk said.
