Reverse gas supplies from Poland may be resumed at any time

Polish gas transmission system operator Gaz-System S.A. has not stopped reverse gas supplies to Ukraine. Gas is not supplied to Ukraine since German company RWE, which is contracted to provide transit services, has failed to file daily applications for gas transit through the territory of Poland since beginning of the year.
This was stated by Gaz-System S.A. spokeswoman Malgorzata Polkowski in a comment to an Ukrinform correspondent.
“Transportation of gas through Poland towards Ukraine is carried out on the principle of interrupted supplies. In recent days, the German company, with which we signed the agreement, has not ordered transit services,” Polkowski said.
She noted that the supplies may be resumed at any time as the transit services are provided on daily applications for transit by the German company. “Supplies may be resumed at any moment. This is the decision of the client,” she said.
Polkowski added that the information, spread by Russian media on that 20 million cubic meters of gas are daily transported through Poland to Ukraine, is false. “This is false information as the maximum technical capabilities of Hermanovice hub on the border with Ukraine amount to 4 million cubic meters of gas,” the Gaz-System S.A. spokeswoman said.
