Red Cross sends envoy to Moscow, Kyiv to discuss ‘Putin’s convoy’

Laurent Corbaz, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) head of operations for Europe and Central Asia, is heading to Moscow and Kyiv to negotiate the delivery to Ukraine of the Russian humanitarian convoy, Reuters reported citing Deutsche Welle.
“A senior representative of the International Committee of the Red Cross is going to Moscow and Kyiv to negotiate the delivery of the Russian humanitarian aid to Ukraine,” the report reads.
It is expected that Corbaz will leave Geneva on Thursday.
According to ICRC spokeswoman Anastasia Isyuk, at the negotiations Corbaz plans to emphasize that the ICRC mission is solely humanitarian, and that the delivery of aid to Ukraine in any case should not be politicized.
Isyuk also noted that “the procedure of border crossing and customs control yet has to be discussed by both sides.”
According to media reports, the convoy of the Russian humanitarian aid moved Thursday in the direction of the Ukrainian checkpoint Izvaryno on the border with Russia, which is controlled by the militants.
