First Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada Iryna Gerashchenko says that consequences of the British referendum on the exit from the European Union will have a negative outlook for Ukraine.
”The EU is hardly passing a test on migration crisis. Europe is covered by a tsunami of euroscepticism, there is growing support for radical and populist parties. Could this delay the visa-free regime for Ukraine? Yes, unfortunately,” Gerashchenko wrote on Facebook.
According to her, serious internal problems ”kill the ratings of all current EU leaders, force them to focus on the situation within the EU, turning a blind eye to everything that is happening beyond.”
Gerashchenko stresses that a weakened and divided Europe, split between skeptics and optimists, a Europe that is afraid of its tomorrow, is the Kremlin`s sweetest dream.
She is convinced, whatever the consequences of the British referendum for the EU – it is not a reason for Ukraine to give up.
”Such is our Ukrainian way – like the Ukrainian roads – with potholes and pits, but without curbs and always heading West. So, let`s go ahead. We demand that the EU fulfill the obligations on the visa-free regime, we expect prolongation of sanctions against the Russian Federation, and we are fighting for our Euro-Atlantic perspective. Because there is no other vector for Ukraine, no matter what,” Gerashchenko said.
