Rada adopts Law on Special Operations Forces

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has adopted the draft law on amendments to some laws of Ukraine concerning the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine submitted by MP from the Bloc of Petro Poroshenko Iryna Friz.
According to the press service of Petro Poroshenko Bloc`s Solidarnist party the decision was supported by 249 MPs.
Speaking from the parliamentary rostrum, Friz said that, in connection with the adoption of the draft law on amendments to some laws of Ukraine on defense (reg. No. 4563) by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on April 16, 2016, there was a need to develop a bill aimed at regulating the legal status, the grounds and procedure for the use of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine exclusively or in cooperation with other branches of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
”The purpose of the bill is to define the legal status and the use of the Special Operation Forces alone or in cooperation with other branches of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in order to perform tasks of special operations on the creation of favorable conditions for the success of the military-political, economic and other activities which are implemented by the state leadership to prevent and curb the military conflict, facilitate the implementation of tasks by groups of troops on missions, as well as perform other special tasks in the interests of national security and defense,” Friz said.
