Putin wants to leave Russian banks in Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russian banks should continue working in Ukraine, despite the fact that they incurred losses. He argues that termination of their work will be “a serious blow” to the economy of Ukraine, in what, according to Putin, Russia is not interested.
The Russian President said this at a meeting with VTB Bank CEO Andrey Kostin, the press service of the Kremlin reported.
“Of course, we need to continue work, primarily, because Russian financial institutions hold more than 30% in the banking sector of Ukraine, and if we are to suspend this work, it will be an extra large, very serious blow to the Ukrainian economy. And we are not interested in this,” he said, responding to arguments by Kostin that VTB incurs losses in Ukraine.
According to Putin, in spite of any difficulties encountered in work on the Ukrainian market, Russian banks must continue work.
