Putin says U.S. behind Panamapapers megaleak

Russian President Vladimir Putin believes the publication of millions of documents revealing shady offshore schemes of top politicians and celebrities was orchestrated by Washington, according to an UaPosition correspondent in Russia.
”Behind all this there are certain officials and official agencies of the United States, let`s put it this way. WikiLeaks has just shown this,” Putin said at the 3rd media forum of regional and local mass media Truth and Justice.
He added: ”Sometimes they dare take too many liberties in public. We`ve already heard apologies for that from some Administration officials. Not because they feel ashamed, but because they are cleverer than those who had done that.”
”When U.S. State Department or U.S. Administration officials say something rude, this means they expose themselves as interested persons,” Putin said.
As UaPosition reported earlier, the so-called Panama papers published after a leak from Panamanian company Mossack Fonseca reveal the former and current top politicians` schemes of tax evasion through offshore jurisdiction.
The materials contain 11.5 million confidential files regarding the wealthy and influential individuals around the world who allegedly kept their assets in secret. The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) was the organization which initially published the investigative report.
According to ICIJ, people fromVladimir Putin`s entourage siphoned nearly $2billion from Russia to the offshore companies.
