Putin, Juncker to discuss situation in Ukraine at St. Petersburg Economic Forum

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said that European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and Russian President Vladimir Putin will discuss the situation in Ukraine during the meeting at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, according to an UNIAN correspondent in Russia.
”In general, EU-Russia relations is the exchange of views in regard to current regional problems – Syria and Ukraine, but overall it is an attempt to still look at where we are going with regard to Russia and the EU, and even against the background of remaining discords  – what are the opportunities to maintain and develop a dialogue,” Peskov told journalists.
However, he did not rule out that the negotiations would touch upon the issue of the construction of Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline, which is planned to be laid through the Baltic Sea, bypassing Ukraine.
”Of course, Russia and European countries are engaged in a wide range of trade and economic relations, which fall under the regulations of the European Commission. These large-scale projects include Nord Stream-2. Theoretically, I cannot rule out the discussion of this project, I cannot say whether the talks will lead to this,” Peskov said.
The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum will be held on June 16-18.
