Putin abolishes ”Crimean Federal District”

According to a decree issued by Russian President Vladimir Putin, the ”Crimean Federal District” has been abolished as an independent unit. It is now part of the Southern Federal District of the Russian Federation.
The head of the Southern Federal District is former Russian Prosecutor General Vladimir Ustinov, who has been in office since 2008.
Earlier, it was reported that Putin had dismissed the envoy to the ”Crimean Federal District” Oleg Belaventsev. He has moved on to a similar post in the North Caucasian Federal District.
Russia created the ”Crimean Federal District” after it annexed Crimea in March 2014.
