Pseudo-elections in Donbas jeopardize peace process – Poroshenko

Pseudo-elections in the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics that terrorists want to hold on November 2 jeopardize the entire peace process in Donbas.
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said this at a meeting with U.S. Senator and Co-Chair of the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee James Inhofe in Kyiv on Tuesday, the presidential press service reported.
“The head of state said that pseudo-elections scheduled by the so-called DPR and LPR for early November not only have nothing to do with the Minsk protocol of September 5, 2014, but also grossly contradict its letter and spirit. They jeopardize the entire peace process,” reads the statement.
Poroshenko said that local elections in certain districts of Donbas could be held only under Ukrainian law.
The sides also discussed the reform of Ukraine’s defense sector and energy security.
