US to provide to Ukraine $ 1 billion credit guarantees on condition of Prosecutor General’s resignation and fighting corruption

The U.S. Department of State could provide loan guarantees to Ukraine in the amount of USD 1 billion, if President appoints a new Prosecutor General instead Viktor Shokin.

According to ZN.ua this was announced during the visit of the US Deputy Attorney General David Sakveralidze Ukraine, Artem Sytnyk director of NABU (National Anti-Corruption Bureau )and Anti-Corruption Prosecutor Nazar Holodnytskoho.

The officials are now in the Untied States with a working visit, where they hold a number of meetings with U.S. counterparts and local experts in combating corruption.

Earlier, Ukraine and the US signed an agreement on granting Ukraine credit guarantees that Cabinet will draw $ 1 billion. by issuing Eurobonds under the safeguards of the United States.

However, the guarantee will depend on progress in implementing International Monetary Fund and anti-corruption reforms.
