Poroshenko`s office elaborates how Ukraine gets ready for possible Russian incursion

Spokesman for the Ukrainian Presidential Administration for Anti-Terrorist Operation issues Colonel Andriy Lysenko assures that Ukraine`s armed forces are ready to deter a possible incursion by Russian troops into Ukrainian territory, according to TV Channel 112 Ukraine.

”What has been happening, what forces are arriving from the Russian Federation – everything is being monitored on a minute-by-minute basis. We`re not aware of their eventual plans, but if this is a possible incursion – we`re ready. We`ve got reserve forces, weapons, and other things that we need. We`re up in arms,” he said, Channel 112 Ukraine reported.

Since the beginning of Russian aggression in Ukrainian territory, Ukraine does not stop training its troops, he said.

”Drills are held on a constant basis – small units, then combined forces and alike [take part in exercises],” he said, adding that dozens of training sessions have already been conducted jointly with foreign partners in a few past years.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko announced earlier that the probability of escalation in Donbas remains high, but the Armed Forces of Ukraine are ready to repel the enemy.

Yet the president said that he does not rule out ”a full-scale incursion by Russia in all the directions.” ”We are ready, our armed forces [are ready] to repulse the enemy both in the east of our Ukraine, where the enemy has occupied Donbas, and along the administrative border with Crimea,” he added.
