Poroshenko: Ukraine not counting on legionaries, but requires military equipment

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said that Ukraine is able to defend itself, but requires military-technical assistance from partners in the EU and NATO.
He said this after a meeting with European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso in Brussels on Saturday, a Ukrinform correspondent reported.
“Ukraine is able to defend itself. We do not expect that other countries’ soldiers will fight in Ukraine to protect the sovereignty of Ukraine, independence and integrity of our borders,” the head of Ukrainian state said.
However, he stressed on the importance of military-technical cooperation, intelligence data exchange, which is the subject of the ongoing bilateral consultations with the EU and NATO.
