Poroshenko: Ukraine insists on int`l leverage to end Crimea occupation

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko says Ukraine continues to insist on setting up an international mechanism to end the occupation of Crimea, according to an UNIAN correspondent.
”We continue to insist on launching an international mechanism to end the occupation of the peninsula,” Poroshenko said at a joint press conference with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry in Kyiv on Thursday.
As UNIAN reported earlier, in January 2016, Poroshenko proposed setting up an international mechanism in a Geneva Plus format to retake Crimea. ”I`m positive that `Geneva Plus` format would be the best to set up such a mechanism: with the participation of our partners from the EU, the United States and, possibly, the Budapest Memorandum signatory states,” the president said.
On May 12, the European Parliament passed a resolution in support of an initiative to establish an international mechanism of talks in the ”Geneva Plus” format and urged the Russian Federation to enter the negotiations on the return of Crimea to Ukraine.
