Poroshenko: Ukraine fulfils all 144 visa-free travel conditions

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko says Ukraine has fulfilled all the requirements of the European Union, namely 144 clauses, for securing visa-free travel, according to Ukrainian TV Channel 112.

The president says he hopes a visa-free regime will be granted to Ukraine before November 24.

”Ukraine has fulfilled all 144 requirements for the visa-free regime and reached all the criteria. I hope that before the EU-Ukraine Summit in Brussels takes place on November 24, Ukrainians will enjoy this long-awaited decision as recognition of the progress and solidarity,” he said, adding that positive changes in the country are irreversible, and the ”horror stories” that were distributed abroad have not materialized.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Paruby and Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament Elmar Brok called on the European Parliament to vote in favor of a visa-free regime for Ukraine on the anniversary of Euromaidan, November 21, 2016.

Parubiy said that the anniversary of the Euromaidan events on November 21, 2016 would be an important symbolic date for the completion of the visa liberalization process, because it was under the banner of European integration that the Ukrainians took to the streets in 2013.
