Poroshenko thanks US for financial assistance

President of Ukraine Poroshenko thanked the United States for allocating additional $ 2 billion aid to Ukraine, which would significantly strengthen the financial stability of the state.
President has said this on Wednesday during a meeting with U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Jacob Lew, the President’s press office informs.
“I would like to express gratitude to the United States for additional USD 2 billion of financial guarantees that will let us significantly strengthen our financial stability,” Poroshenko said.
The President has informed that the efforts of the Ukrainian authorities are focused on the restoration of macro-economic stability and trust in the banking system. He has also informed on the progress of reforms, particularly on deregulation, law enforcement reform, judicial reform and anti-corruption policy.
In turn, the U.S. Secretary of the Treasury urged Ukraine to keep on moving the way of reforms. “We are having a close coordination of actions with the IMF realizing that you have to deal with two tasks at once: the implementation of reforms and the maintenance of security,” Jacob Lew has emphasized.
The U.S. Secretary of the Treasury added that the U.S. closely coordinated its efforts with the EU in order to support Ukraine and elaborate a type of policy towards Russia that would increase the diplomatic opportunities of resolving the situation in Donbas.
