Poroshenko thanks Ban for international support consolidated by UN

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, in a telephone conversation with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, thanked him for his clear and unambiguous position on the illegitimacy of the so-called “elections” held in some parts of Donbas on November 2, and the damage they caused to the implementation of the Minsk agreements, the press service of the Ukrainian president has reported.
“Your statements in this regard gave a correct and timely signal to the world, in particular, to the UN Security Council on the eve of its extraordinary meeting on the situation in Ukraine on November 12,” Poroshenko said.
He also thanked the UN secretary general for international support for Ukraine, which is consolidated by the UN and its organizations, in particular, the UN General Assembly and the UN Security Council.
Ban, in turn, expressed concern about the threat of failure of efforts for a peaceful settlement of the situation in Donbas and noted that all provisions of the Minsk arrangements should be fulfilled to avoid further escalation.
Ban said that today the whole world was on the side of Ukraine. The UN will make further efforts to ensure that the Minsk agreements are fulfilled by all parties in order to de-escalate the situation in Donbas, the secretary general said.
