Poroshenko says Happy Birthday to Savchenko

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has congratulated Ukrainian pilot, MP and member of the Ukrainian delegation to PACE Nadia Savchenko on her birthday while she remains far from her loved ones, wrongfully convicted and remaining behind bars in Russia
”I congratulate our Nadia on her birthday – she is a symbol of faith in the victory over the aggressor! I do everything possible to personally congratulate the Hero in her native land!” he wrote on Twitter.
Nadia Savchenko turned 35 today.
As UNIAN reported earlier, on March 22, Donetsk city court of the Rostov region (Russia) sentenced Savchenko to 22 years in prison for the alleged murder of two Russian journalists.
In late April, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said in an interview with Ukrainian TV channels that he had a ”firm hope” that the presidential plane would return the illegally convicted in the Russian Federation Ukrainian pilot, MP and member of the Ukrainian delegation to PACE Nadia Savchenko within a few weeks.
On April 27, Savchenko`s lawyer Ilya Novikov claimed his client had reportedly received documents for extradition to Ukraine and forecasted that she might return home in the second half of May.
Savchenko was born on May 11, 1981.
