Poroshenko raises flag and says everything will be fine

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko raised the National Flag on Sophia Square on Saturday, August 23.

After that, the Head of State addressed Ukrainians with a festive speech, a Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“We are at the threshold of tremendous tectonic changes. Just as our soldiers hoist a flag over the liberated towns and villages, we must all together make a joint effort required to raise the banner of victory to overcome corruption, unemployment and poverty. We will succeed in everything, my dear compatriots, Everything will be fine. We are strong and determined. And I am proud that I am Ukrainian,” Poroshenko said.
He also noted that Ukraine has finally formed a political nation.
“Today, we as a people are united and powerful as ever! Enemy – strong, cruel, treacherous – tempered and cemented us as one. Who wanted to divide and weaken us – united and strengthened us more,” the President said.
The event, jointly with the Head of state was attended by Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk, Verkhovna Rada Chairman Oleksandr Turchynov, ex-Presidents Leonid Kravchuk and Viktor Yushchenko, as well as Deputy Prime Minister Oleksandr Sych, Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin, Education Minister Serhiy Kvit, Culture Minister Yevhen Nishchuk and Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.
