Poroshenko informs G7 and EU ambassadors about Donbas and difficult situation

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has met with the ambassadors of the Group of Seven (G7) and European Union countries to discuss the coordination of further action on the international arena to promote the peace process, the presidential press service has reported.
The head of state expressed his gratitude for the support that Ukraine receives from the world’s leading countries in a difficult situation. “This is a real test for our relationship,” Poroshenko said.
He stressed the importance of cooperation with G7 countries during the foreign political events of recent weeks – participation in a European Council meeting, a NATO summit in Wales, and working visits to Canada and the United States.
In this context, U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt reiterated the words of U.S. President Barack Obama at a meeting with President Poroshenko that the United States is committed to supporting Ukraine and developing even closer partnership with it.
The head of state informed the ambassadors of developments in Donbas, noting that the situation remains difficult. He said that Ukraine was fulfilling all of its obligations under the Minsk agreements. He said that the key to further positive dynamics was compliance with agreements by all parties – namely a bilateral ceasefire, the withdrawal of Russian troops, the release of hostages, and, in particular, control over the Ukrainian-Russian border, the creation of a buffer zone and the establishment in thus area of effective OSCE monitoring and verification.
The meeting with the president was attended by ambassadors Pyatt of the U.S., Jan Tombinski of the EU, Christof Weil of Germany, Alain Remy of France, Toichi Sakata of Japan, Fabrizio Romano of Italy, Simon Smith of Britain and Canada’s Charge d’Affaires in Ukraine Anne Mattson Gauss.
