Poroshenko hopes for effectiveness of Donbas contact group

President Petro Poroshenko hopes for the effectiveness of tripartite consultations of the contact group to resolve the situation in Donbas, which met on July 31 in Minsk.
He said this in a phone call with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko on Monday, the president’s press office reported.
“Petro Poroshenko thanked Alexander Lukashenko for facilitating a tripartite meeting of the contact group to resolve the situation in Donbas, involving the second President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma, Ambassador of Russia Mikhail Zurabov and the OSCE Representative in Minsk July 31. The Head of State expressed the hope that these consultations may continue and bring specific results,” the report reads.
The heads of state also discussed a wide range of political and economic bilateral relations, including the removal of the artificial barriers in mutual trade.
Lukashenko assured Poroshenko that Belarus considers good relations with Ukraine a priority of its foreign policy and foreign economic relations.
The presidents agreed to continue dialogue on a regular basis regarding cooperation projects at the bilateral and multilateral level.
