Poroshenko discusses Donbas with Merkel and Hollande

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has had a trilateral phone conversation with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Francois Hollande, during which the parties discussed the situation in Donbas, according to the president`s press service.

Poroshenko condemned ongoing Russian aggression and continuous shelling, inter alia, with the use of heavy weaponry by the Russian militants and troops despite the ceasefire declared as of April 1, the press service reported.

The parties underlined the need for consolidation of the ceasefire regime.

The president stressed the importance that all hostages held in occupied Donbas and in Russian prisons should be freed.

The parties confirmed the importance of further Minsk implementation efforts.

In addition, Poroshenko thanked Merkel and Hollande for support of the visa-free regime for Ukrainians.
