President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko regrets the decision of the Polish Sejm on the recognition of the events in Volyn region in 1943-1945 ”genocide” and calls for a return to the reconciliation and unity.
”I`m sorry to hear about the decision of the Polish Sejm. I know that many will seek to use it for political speculations,” Poroshenko wrote on Facebook.
”However, we must return to the commandment of John Paul II – we forgive and ask for forgiveness. Only through joint steps can we come to Christian reconciliation and unity. Only together can we can we learn of all the facts of the tragic pages of our common history,” wrote Poroshenko.
He expressed hope that Ukraine and Poland would continue to move along this path.
