Popov-Sivkovych case returned to Prosecutor General’s Office

Pechersky District Court in Kyiv on July 29 returned to the Prosecutor General’s Office for additional investigation criminal proceedings opened against former Head of Kyiv City State Administration Oleksandr Popov and former Deputy National Security and Defense Council Secretary Volodymyr Sivkovych, Popov’s lawyer, Mykola Karnaukh, has said.
“Yesterday, the court decided to send the case materials in full to the Prosecutor General’s Office,” ukranews quoted the lawyer as saying.
The prosecutor said in court that state prosecutors did not support the previous petition to close criminal proceedings against Popov and Sivkovych.
As reported, criminal proceedings against Popov and Sivkovych were launched under the Ukrainian Criminal Code article on the obstruction of peaceful gatherings, rallies and demonstrations due to the crackdown on Euromaidan on November 30, 2013.
