PM vows not to delay implementation of Association Agreement

Nobody will make any decisions to postpone the implementation of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU, and the Ukrainian government will start implementing the agreement immediately after its ratification by parliament.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk said this on the Freedom of Speech program aired by the ICTV television channel late on Monday.
“The agreement with the EU was signed… This agreement will be ratified by all members of the Ukrainian parliament. I hope that the constitutional majority of people’s deputies of Ukraine will vote for it to become a law of Ukraine. The president will sign it, and regardless of any statements coming from various capitals – we have only one capital, Kyiv – the government will start implementing the agreement from the first day,” he said.
In this regard, he said that at a cabinet meeting on Wednesday it is planned to adopt a “decision on the so-called implementation of this agreement.”
He said that it contradicted the interests of Moscow. “Today, [Russian Prime Minister Dmitry] Medvedev said that they wanted the Ukrainian parliament to pass a special decision to delay the implementation of the agreement. I would like to officially declare the position of the Ukrainian government: nobody will make any decisions that will delay the implementation of the agreement. There is no discussion on this issue,” Yatseniuk said.
