PM Groysman confident joint efforts with EU to develop digital technology in Ukraine

Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman is convinced that the joint efforts of the EU and Ukraine aimed at cooperation in the digital economy will contribute to the development of electronic technology in Ukraine, stated the Head of Government at the Forum on digital economy attended by European Commissioner Guenter Oettinger, on Tuesday, according to the Cabinet`s press service.
”The experience that the European Union has and the personal leadership of European Commissioner Oettinger will provide a very good result in this extremely important area of our cooperation, as well as the development of our economy. I am convinced that our joint efforts will bear fruit,” said Groysman.
Prime Minister pointed out that at today`s meeting with EU Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society Guenther Oettinger, the parties have agreed to establish a working group ”to develop a joint action plan and assess the requirements for Ukraine`s accession to the EU digital community.”
Ukraine is involved in a wide range of activities with the EU in the area of digital technology, said Groysman. Among the possible areas for the development of digital technology and the introduction of new modern methods of governance are e- customs, e-economy, and e-commerce, the prime minister said. The Government also faces the challenge of change and the widespread introduction of electronic management in Ukraine.
”The world is moving fast, technology is developing. We have to build up a sustainable strategy for the development of relations with the European Union in the digital economy,” said the Prime Minister.
Ukraine has a great potential for the development of digital technologies in the country, taking into account ”achievements, quality education, educated population, the growing market and needs the time dictates today,” he said.
”We are confident in Ukraine`s ability to hold a leading position in this area [digital technology]. We will do our utmost in order to implement such technology,” said Groysman.
