Pentagon states that Russia plans to provide a military activity in Ukraine for a long time

The U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency director Lieutenant General Vincent R. Stewart states in the report on worldwide threat assessment  that Russia is trying to create a long-term conflict in Eastern Ukraine:

“Russia will continue to employ a mix of military and nonmilitary pressure against Kyiv. Moscow’s actions towards Ukraine are consistent with Russia’s new military doctrine and strategy, which will continue to raise anxieties with states along Russia’s periphery.”

Lieutenant General Stewart underlines that Russia has modernized its military doctrine to integrate new methods of warfare and made significant progress modernizing its nuclear and conventional forces.

“We anticipate continued high levels of Russian military activity in 2015,” says General Stewart.
