France is ready to join negotiations on the settlement of the situation in Donbas in the Weimar format, the possibility of which has recently been discussed by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
French Foreign Ministry spokesman Romain Nadal told this to a Ukrinform correspondent.
“France will also join negotiations in the ‘Weimar Triangle’ format, which will allow us to coordinate our actions with our German and Polish partners. France supports all formats to promote a lasting and peaceful settlement of the crisis in Ukraine,” the diplomat said.
He also recalled that in this format French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius arrived in Kyiv in February this year during the escalation of the situation in Ukraine. In addition, the French minister met on October 24 with his German and Polish counterparts to discuss the concrete situation in Ukraine in this format.
