OSCE monitors in Donbas: Camera in Shyrokyne records 27 MLRS projectiles on Oct 21

Principal Deputy Chief Monitor of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) to Ukraine reports that multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) are used in Donbas and almost 30 MLRS projectiles were recorded in the village of Shyrokyne, near the Ukrainian-controlled port city of Mariupol alone on October 21.

”On 21/10 [an] SMM camera in Shyrokyne recorded 27 MLRS projectiles,” says an OSCE SMM tweet to follow up Hug`s media briefing in Kyiv on Thursday.

He also briefed on the areas with the highest levels of violence in Donbas.

”Avdiivka-Yasynuvata-Donetsk airport [are] focus of violence; last weekend violence spread to W & NW of [militant controlled] Horlivka & [the] Svitlodarsk-Debaltseve road,” the OSCE SMM tweeted, quoting Hug as saying.

In his words, violence levels last week fluctuated but remained high, with hundreds of ceasefire violations recorded on a daily basis.

”The SMM observed more ceasefire violations in Donetsk region, including more than 280 explosions compared with 193 in the previous reporting period, mostly in Avdiivka-Yasynuvata and Svitlodarsk areas, as well as in areas east and north-east of Mariupol where, in addition, the SMM camera in Shyrokyne recorded over 200 bursts of direct tracer fire,” the OSCE SMM said in its update based on information received as of 19:30 local time on October 26, 2016.
