Obama: It’s too early to tell what ceasefire in Donbas means

U.S. President Barack Obama has said it is still too early to interpret the meaning of a ceasefire, on which Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin agreed on Wednesday.
He said this at a joint press conference with Estonian President Toomas Hendrik Ilves on Wednesday, a Ukrinform correspondent reported.
“It’s too early to tell what this ceasefire means. We haven’t seen any details; we’ve just seen a couple of wire reports,” Obama said.
He said that Russia had until now denied supporting the separatists and that there were no specific results from statements on a ceasefire.
Obama said that what had happened in Ukraine was tragic and added that these events gave an opportunity to look with fresh eyes and understand what it is that’s necessary to make sure that NATO commitments are met.
He also said that sanctions against Russia had a significant impact.
