Number of foreign tourists in Kyiv 9.3% up in H1

The number of foreign tourists who visited Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, in the first half of 2016, grew by 9.3% year-over-year, to 513,400 people, according to head of Kyiv City State Administration`s tourism department Anton Taranenko, who quoted the State Border Service of Ukraine.

Most of the tourists who visited Kyiv in the first six months came from Israel (57,100 people).

The Ukrainian capital was also popular with tourists from Turkey, the United States, the United Kingdom, Belarus, Germany, Azerbaijan, France, and Georgia.

Taranenko also informed that last year 465,600 foreigners visited Kyiv, which was 12% up on 2014.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the number of foreign tourists who have visited Ukraine in the past two years halved, to almost 13 million people in 2015, which is connected with the tense political situation in the country and tourists being cautious about their security in Ukraine.
