Ukraine Today took an UBER ride with UBER general manager in Ukraine Arkadiy Vershebenyuk after the company launched its operations in Kyiv last week.
UBER first wanted to enter Ukrainian market in 2013, but because of the Euromaidan revolution, which sparked political and economic turmoil in the country, the plans were postponed, but not cancelled, Ukraine Today reports.
According to Arkadiy Vershebenyuk, within two hours following the launch, 12,500 Ukrainians downloaded UBER app on their gadgets.
”We`re not concerned about taxi drivers` strikes or government blocking UBER app,” said the general manager of UBER in Ukraine.
”Our mission is to make transportation as reliable as running water. We want to be part of the fabric of the city, we want to be part of the transportation system of the city,” he said.
”We had several thousand potential drivers registered even before we launched UBER in Kyiv – this is not happening on every market,” Mr. Vershebenyuk revealed some of the statistics.
