New Infrastructure Minister hopes to sign ”Open Sky” with EU in July

The Ministry of Infrastructure expects that the Open Skies agreement between Ukraine and the European Union may be signed in July 2016, the newly-appointed Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelyan said during the Ukrainian infrastructure forum.
”The key point is the signing of an Open Skies agreement with the EU. This time, we have another date from Brussels – July 2016,” the minister said.
If the EU does not sign an agreement in July, the Ministry of Infrastructure will publicly draw attention of Brussels to the need to stick to the word, Omelyan said.
”I will not believe them anymore and will publicly draw the EU`s attention to the need to keep its word,” he said.
As UaPosition reported earlier, on March 29, Italy ”opened skies” with Ukraine and lifted all restrictions on the frequency of flights and the number of carriers.
Thus, Ukraine has fully liberalized air services to Spain, Italy, Poland and the United States: all restrictions have been lifted on the number of routes, carriers, and frequency of flights.
