Nearly $1.5 bln on accounts of Yanukovych partners blocked

The total amount of the blocked funds on the accounts of 44 non-resident companies controlled by the “family” of former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych is $1.42 billion, including $1.37 billion frozen in Ukraine and $49.51 million abroad.
The State Service for Financial Monitoring of Ukraine has received such since March 2014, Liga.Net reported.
“In general, 530 accounts of 92 individuals and 81 accounts of 32 legal entities involved in corruption have been detected in Ukraine following measures taken by the State Service for Financial Monitoring. The funds worth UAH 1.72 billion, $190.95 million, EUR 16.28 million and RUB 410,000, precious metals (gold and silver) worth UAH 2.95 million, as well as securities worth UAH 2.55 billion and $1.02 billion, have been blocked,” reads the statement.
