National Bank of Ukraine simplifies rules for cash currency cross-border movement

The National Bank of Ukraine has simplified the procedure for the movement of foreign currency over EUR 10,000 across Ukraine`s customs border, according to NBU decree No.24, going into effect March 23.

Citizens declaring the amount over EUR 10,000 may now provide a wider range of money origin confirmation papers. Besides the receipts on money withdrawal from their bank account, receipts of forex transactions will now be accepted by customs officials.

According to the decree, the regulator also allowed members of Ukraine`s diplomatic corps going back on rotation to bring in cash currency in the amount over EUR 10,000 based on the relevant certificates issued by diplomatic institutions.

The NBU also tripled the validity of supporting documents required for the declaration of cash currency – from 30 to 90 calendar days.
