Naftogaz discloses price of gas imports from Europe

The price of natural gas Ukraine imported from the European Union in the first quarter (Q1) of 2016 was $198 per 1,000 cubic meters on the average, which was lower by 34% year-over-year, according to country`s largest energy holding Naftogaz of Ukraine.
Last year natural gas was bought abroad at a price of $228 per 1,000 cubic meters in the fourth quarter (Q4), $266 per 1,000 cubic meters in the third quarter (Q3) and $268 per 1,000 cubic meters in the second quarter (Q2), the company reported.
Naftogaz says that the mentioned prices do not include costs of distribution of capacity of the entry point to the Ukrainian gas transportation system, which was set by the National Regulatory Commission for Energy and Utilities at $12.47 per 1,000 cubic meters on January 1, 2016.
Naftogaz`s total gas imports in Q1, 2016 were 2.01 billion cubic meters.
As UNIAN reported earlier, the price of gas imports in Q1, 2015 was at $301 per 1,000 cubic meters, according to Naftogaz.
Ukraine did not buy gas from Russia in Q1, 2016. Major gas suppliers were Poland, Hungary and Slovakia in the period under review.
Memo. NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine is Ukraine`s largest vertically integrated state-owned oil and gas producer whose companies account for more than 97% of domestic production of oil and gas.
Naftogaz of Ukraine is engaged in mining, oil and gas extraction, transportation and sale of fuel through its own network of filling stations.
