Mykolaiv shipyard completes tests of Pryluky missile boat

State-run enterprise Shipyard named after 61 Communards, which is part of Ukraine`s major state-owned arms manufacturer Ukroboronprom, has completed mooring trials of the Pryluky missile boat of the Ukrainian Navy.
The shipyard upgraded external elements of the vessel`s deck, repaired and set up mechanisms of the vessel`s system, Ukroboronprom`s press service said. The operations of the crew life support and armament systems were modernized.
”Despite the complete disconnection of the plant from Mykolaivoblenergo power source, taking into account the appeal of the Command of the Ukrainian Navy, we have found a way to complete quickly repairs and mooring tests of the Pryluky missile boat. The management of the plant has taken extra burden regarding expenses on rent, fuel and maintenance of diesel generators, and ensured the conduction of mooring tests, and the ship has passed the sea trials,” the press service quoted plant`s chief Fyodor Petrov as saying.
Petrov stated that disconnection of a strategic military enterprise from the power supply source is a wrongful and illegal act, especially amid war. The plant workers have already appealed to the region`s local authorities and directly to its Governor Vadym Merikov to assist in solving the power supply issue that the plant is facing. Ukroboronprom has also urged the National Security and Defense Council to interfere in order to find a fast solution.
It is also reported that the plant is currently carrying out modernization of the Svatovo assault landing ship and expects to get new orders for the Ukrainian Navy.
As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukroboronprom has announced the development of a technical project to upgrade the Ukrainian Navy frigate Hetman Sahaidachny. In September 2015, then-Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk instructed to promptly develop the project for the upgrade of the Hetman Sahaidachny frigate. The modernization work is planned to be completed by 2018.
