On Wednesday, April 26, Moscow`s Lefortovo district court will consider the investigators` motion to extend the arrest of illegally detained Ukrainian journalist Roman Sushchenko, his lawyer Mark Feygin told UNIAN.
”At 13:00 on April 26, the Lefortovo court will consider the motion of the investigation to extend the arrest of Ukrainian journalist Roman Sushchenko,” Feygin said.
Earlier, the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) on September 30, 2016, detained in Moscow an Ukrinform correspondent, Roman Sushchenko, labeling him a Ukrainian intelligence officer who allegedly ”deliberately collected classified information on activities of the armed forces and the national guard of the Russian Federation.” Sushchenko was officially charged with espionage.
Moscow`s Lefortovo court ruled to arrest the journalist until November 30, 2016.
All court hearings in the Sushchenko case were held behind closed doors.
On October 27, 2016, the Moscow City Court upheld the initial ruling on Sushchenko`s arrest.
On November 28, 2016, ruled to prolong the arrest until January 30, 2017.
On January 25, 2017, Moscow`s Lefortovo district court decided to keep Sushchenko in custody until April 30, 2017.
On February 14, 2017, the Moscow City Court upheld the ruling on Sushchenko`s arrest.
