Moldovan authorities: Russia`s military exercises in Transnistria illegal, inadmissible

The Bureau for Reintegration and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Moldova reacted to the second round of military exercises conducted by the Operation Group of Russian Armed Forces in Transnistria, according to moldova.org.

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs even called the representative of the Russian Embassy to give explanations for the ”anti-terrorist exercises” conducted together with the separatist Transnistrian troops. Both the Bureau and the Ministry expressed the concern that these kind of actions are ”provocative, inadmissible and illegal,” being actually meant to sabotage the peace-keeping mechanisms of the region and to undermine the sovereignty and the territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova, moldova.org reports.

The Moldovan governmental authorities demand, again, the withdrawal of the Russian troops and munitions from the territory of Moldova and suggest the replacement of the current peace-keeping mission by a civil one with an international mandate.

The demand is repetitive, as Moldovan authorities asked the same some 10 days before.
