Combined Russian-separatist forces attacked Ukrainian army positions near the village of Luhanske, Ukrainian news service TSN reported.
The militants were attacking the Ukrainian army with armored vehicles, grenade launchers and machine guns. One of the strongholds of the 54th Brigade was destroyed by a powerful mine. No casualties or injuries were reported as the result of shelling. Ukrainian soldiers managed to escape in shelters, according to the report.
The village of Luhanske was almost surrounded by the militants, TSN reported. The 54th Brigade, which defends this section of the Svitlodarsk bridgehead, is said to be constantly attacked by the militants. At night, the terrorists fired large-caliber weapons, such as 120mm mortars. Since 7 p.m. the militants have launched not very aggressive, but provocative fire from a heavy machine gun, and a few days earlier they used armored combat vehicles.
As UNIAN reported earlier, the Anti-Terrorist Operation forces killed three enemy fighters in the industrial zone of Avdiyivka and captured 12.7-mm machine gun.
