Militants become active in Luhansk region, artillery fire

Number of attacks increased in Luhansk region. Militants used mortars and large-caliber weapons again.
Chairman of the Luhansk Regional State Administration Hennadiy Moskal wrote on his website.
“For the past day, militants shelled eight times the territory Luhansk region, controlled by Ukraine. For comparison, there were only three attacks on December 11,” he said.
According to Moskal, for the first time over a continuous period, Milove district got under fire, which is located in the north of Luhansk region, 100 kilometers from the boundary line.
“After midnight, the Milove neighborhood, where the roadblock of Ukrainian security forces is located, was repeatedly fired with grenade launchers. Obviously, a reconnaissance and sabotage group “worked,” a statement reads.
In addition, during yesterday, militants fired the area of the thermal power plant in Shchastia. Before dinner, at 11.30 a.m., they fired with mortars and after 14:00 – with sniper rifles, and then about 15:00 – again with mortars. There are no wounded and dead among civilians.
Brief skirmishes several times broke out in Stanytsia Luhanska near the bridge over the Siversky Donets, with the use of automatic weapons and heavy machine guns from the APCs. After 15:00, on December 12, the neighborhood villages were fired with mortars. Neither Grad rocket launchers nor artillery fired on the village. There is no information about the wounded or dead civilians.
“As of 10:00 a.m. today, it is quiet in Stanytsia Luhanska, as well as in Shchastia and Popasna,” Moskal says.
The Luhansk Regional State Administration cites the dynamics of shelling of Lugansk region, controlled by Ukraine, since the beginning of the week: Tuesday – 12 cases, Wednesday – 16, Thursday – 3, Friday – 8.
