The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine welcomes the adoption of the resolutions that condemned the fact of Russia`s aggression in Ukraine during the 25th annual session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry told an UNIAN correspondent.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomes the adoption of two important resolutions, initiated by members of the Standing Delegation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly – ”Violation of human rights and fundamental freedoms in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol” and ”Thirtieth anniversary of the Chornobyl disaster,” which were included in the Tbilisi Declaration adopted on the results of the Assembly.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs noticed that the resolution on ”Violation of human rights and fundamental freedoms in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol” had once again confirmed the fact of Russia`s armed aggression against Ukraine, strongly condemned the annexation of the Crimean peninsula and Russia`s violation as a state-occupier of fundamental human rights in the occupied Crimea, in particular, the ban of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, the use of political repression against the Crimean Tatars and ethnic Ukrainians, including abduction, murder, torture, imprisonment, etc. The resolution also called on Russia to release all the illegally detained citizens of Ukraine.
At the same time, the resolution passed in connection with the 30th anniversary of the Chornobyl disaster emphasizes the need to continue to make efforts to eliminate the consequences of the Chornobyl disaster at the national and international levels, decrease its impact on the health of the population, weaken its environmental, social and economic consequences, and restore areas affected by radiation.
The Foreign Ministry also welcomes the adoption of the resolution of the General Committee of the OSCE PA on Political Affairs and Security, which clearly condemns the fact of Russian military aggression against Ukraine, and calls for the deployment of international peacekeeping mission under the auspices of the UN and the OSCE, and the continuation of economic and political sanctions against the Russian Federation until the full implementation of the Minsk agreements and the cessation of the illegal occupation of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.
The important outcome of the 25th session of the OSCE PA for Ukraine was the election of its representative – the chairman of the Ukrainian parliamentary delegation, MP Artur Gerasimov deputy head of the General Committee of the OSCE PA Committee on Economic Affairs, Science, Technology and Environment.
