Merkel: Russia’s involvement in Ukrainian conflict obvious

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has said that sanctions are the only means of influence on Russia, which supports terrorists in Ukraine.
The chancellor said this in today’s interview with German radio station rbb-Inforadio, Deutsche Welle reported.
“The sanctions are the only means of pressure on the Russian Federation. Russia’s direct involvement in the Ukrainian conflict in very, very obvious, and its actions cannot be left without consequences. However, the German government has no doubt that this conflict cannot be resolved by military means,” Merkel said.
She said that sanctions against Russia would be in effect until the end of the conflict in Donbas. “But introducing them, we must also make it clear that as soon as the situation gets normalized, means of punishment will be lifted,” she said.
