MEPs recommend not to consider visa-free regime for Georgia, Ukraine in one package

Granting visa-free regime for Georgia should not be considered in one package with Turkey, Ukraine and Kosovo, the Committee of Foreign Affairs of the European Parliament announced during a discussion with the President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili, Europeiska Pravda reports.
According to MEPs, Georgia has fulfilled all the visa liberalization requirements of the European Union, therefore it deserves to receive visa-free regime as soon as possible.
”Georgia clearly expresses the European integration and Euro-Atlantic aspirations, a vision held by the various political parties,” said Margvelashvili during the debate on the Russian-Georgian relations.
He assured the Committee of Foreign Affairs of the European Parliament that his country has carried out reforms related to the implementation of the Association Agreement.
As UNIAN reported earlier, European Union states held off agreeing to ease travel rules for Georgia on June 1, and Turkey, Ukraine and Kosovo should also expect more delays in visa waiving as the bloc turns more cautious amid immigration fears.
