McCain: Russian problems not created by Obama

The negative impact on the Russian economy has been caused by a drop in oil prices, not the U.S. sanctions.
U.S. Senator John McCain expressed this opinion in an interview with CNN.
“We should be thanking the Saudis who have allowed the value of a barrel of oil to go to the point where it’s affecting dramatically Vladimir Putin’s economy. It has nothing to do with any action taken by the President of the United States,” he said.
McCain added that he believes American sanctions, which have been the lynchpin of Obama’s strategy in confronting Russia, have had little effect.
As Ukrinform reported, U.S. President Barack Obama said that Putin is not a “chess master” who can beat him or the United States.
“Right now he’s presiding over the collapse of his currency, a major financial crisis and a huge economic contraction. That doesn’t sound like somebody who has rolled me or the United States of America,” Obama said in an interview.
