Lutsenko invites Yanukovych to Kyiv for face-to-face interrogation with Ukrainian leaders

Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko says he is ready to arrange face-to-face interrogation of former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych with other Ukrainian officials if he arrives in Kyiv.

”I completely support Yanukovych`s wish to give testimony along with the so-called face-to-face interrogation and it will be my pleasure to personally arrange it for him in Ukraine`s capital. As soon as Yanukovych takes courage to be liable before the Ukrainian people for all he has done, he will have the face-to-face interrogation and receive a fair trial, and even a fair verdict,” Lutsenko said at a joint briefing with Director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine Artem Sytnyk in Kyiv on Thursday.

”Yanukovych has turned to be a weak person, a traitor, who usurped power, plundered the country, destroyed the armed forces and security forces of Ukraine. In the end, he fled to a neighboring state, and called for armed aggression against Ukraine from there,” Lutsenko added.

The prosecutor general added that the ex-president would not dictate the country he ”plundered, betrayed, and urged an armed enemy on” how to manage his case by the Ukrainian investigation.

As UNIAN reported, former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, who fled Ukraine in February 2014 amid the Revolution of Dignity, wants face-to-face interrogation with incumbent President Petro Poroshenko and other senior officials in the video conference format.
