Leader of Ukrainian communists lobbies Kremlin in Strasbourg

Leader of Ukrainian Communists Petro Symonenko currently stays in Strasbourg and conduct talks with representatives of the European left-wing political parties, members of the European United Left (GUE) and socialists, to persuade them to vote for the return of voting powers to the Russian delegation to PACE, which it was deprived of due to annexation of Crimea.
A source in the PACE has told this in commentary to an Ukrinform correspondent.
“Leader of the Communist Party of Ukraine Petro Symonenko is now in Strasbourg. I can confirm information that he had several meetings with representatives of the European left political groups and tried to persuade them to vote for return of voting powers to Russian delegation,” the source said.
According to him, the leader of Ukrainian communists met with the leaders of political groups and with individual parliamentarians.
The information on the presence of Petro Symonenko in Strasbourg has been also confirmed in social networks by several Ukrainian journalists covering the PACE winter session.
According to the Ukrinform’s source in the PACE, majority of MPs of Greece, Armenia, Hungary and Serbia may vote against depriving Russia of its voting powers. Representatives from Austria, Azerbaijan, and possibly Bulgaria, may also support Russia.
