Lavrov: It`s Putin to decide on Savchenko swap

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov says that the Russian side has heard of proposals to exchange Ukrainian pilot Nadia Savchenko, but under Russian laws, it is the Russian president who is to decide on this matter, according to Russian news agency TASS.
”We hear of proposals as for the swap, and the issue will be considered in full accordance with the Russian legislation, a decision is to be taken by the head of state,” Lavrov said after talks with his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Moscow on Wednesday, TASS wrote.
Steinmeier in turn told reporters after the talks were over that he hoped for a ”humanitarian solution” in the Savchenko case but he could not say anything about possible mediation.
As UaPosition reported earlier, the Kremlin did not confirm a statement by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko that his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin had allegedly promised to release or exchange Savchenko after her trial in Russia.
